Project PASS, funded by a DOJ/BJA grant (15PBJA-21-GG-04669-STOP), addresses a critical gap in school safety by training K-12 school personnel and the members of community mental health agencies who support them in the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) PREPaRE curriculum. PREPaRE is an evidence-based and widely used model that helps school safety crisis teams recognize, respond quickly to, and prevent school violence and other crises, including natural disasters and pandemics.
This project will…
- Coordinate Louisiana PREPaRE trainers.
- Train up to 800 school personnel in PREPaRE Core Workshop 1.
- Train up to 320 school mental health providers and agency partners in PREPaRE Core Workshop 2.
- Hold workshops in the five largest metropolitan areas in Louisiana, reaching 77% of the state population.
- Provide virtual training sessions, reaching rural Louisiana.
- Offer 150 hours of technical assistance to districts implementing their crisis plans.
- Sustain PREPaRE in Louisiana by training new trainers using the NASP PREPaRE Training of Trainers (ToT) approach, a peer learning community, and mentorship by senior trainers.
